Hey, I'm Josh Ryan!

I love weddings. I became a North East wedding photographer in 2020, and am so lucky to have been shooting weddings for the last 4+ years.
Seeing the excitement as one partner walks into their new life with a huge smile on their face, while the other is awaiting the love of their life, sometimes with tears in their eyes – those are the best shots! Watching it makes me want to get married myself!
Originally from a film background, I've always thought the idea of capturing someone's big day was amazing. I posted on Facebook that I was offering a free service and managed to get a wedding! It was such a great experience that it really cemented my love for wedding photography.

Getting to know you before your big day is my secret weapon.
Here, I'll go first.
Margo, my miniature Dachshund is 1 year old She's loving, playful and has a huge personality! That side eye could kill though...
Ed Sheran, Taylor Swift, lots of pop. Met Ed once too!
Cheesy bake pasta!
Apart from dog walks and photography, I like adventures to different cities, driving, concerts, podcasts, drinks and nightlife!
Your turn - what's your dream "walking down the aisle" song?
P.S. - I do other types of photography too! Mainly out of Darlington, I shoot events, portraits, christenings, events, and more. I'm looking to shoot my first engagement -
Where it all began...
From a smile to tears, then a hug that says it all. A dad seeing his daughter in her wedding dress is pure emotion.
One of the most memorable weddings I shot was Emily and James at the Manor House, which remains one of my absolute favourites. It was so personal, and I loved shooting it.
The couple were so welcoming, helped me feel at easy while I focused on capturing the essence of their special day. It was a wonderful experience, and taught me a great deal about engaging with large groups and making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera.
To get the message that they absolutely loved the photos and couldn't believe how gorgeous they were was somewhat of an ego boost, but it was a profound affirmation that I've found my calling. I'll never forget their kind words. Emily and James are still in touch every now and again too, which is a lovely bonus.
I've shot a fair few weddings since then, but Emily and James will always have a special place in my heart.
"Josh is a great photographer who really listened to our requirements and followed the brief carefully! He ensured everything we wanted was captured on the day with no fuss.
He goes above and beyond!"
